NMR Spectroscopy

About us

The Department of Chemistry of the University of Basel offers support in all aspects of NMR-spectroscopy to all its research groups. Every researcher has a personalized account on at least one instrument, in addition, group accounts exist on all open access spectrometers.

Advice and support in selecting, performing and interpreting NMR-experiments is provided and specialized pulse sequences are performed on demand.

We ask external groups or interested parties to contact us directly by email.

Methods

- one-, two-, three- and four-dimensional NMR experiments
- routine-2D-experiments (cosy, tocsy, noesy, roesy, hsqc, hmqc, hmbc)
- experiments with solvent suppression
- low and high temperature experiments (120 K – 400 K)
- diffusion ordered experiments (dosy)
- relaxation rates, kinetics and thermodynamic parameter determination
- 3D structure determination
- virtually all NMR-active nuclei (amongst others we perform: 1H, 2D, 3He, 6Li, 7Li, 10B, 11B, 13C, 14N, 15N, 17O, 19F, 21Ne, 23Na, 29Si, 31P, 37Cl, 51V, 55Mn, 57Fe, 59Co, 61Ni, 69Ga, 71Ga, 73Ge, 77Se, 103Rh, 107Ag, 109Ag, 113Cd, 115In, 119Sn, 129Xe, 183W, 187Os, 195Pt, 199Hg, 205Tl, 207Pb)
