For Department of Chemistry members work spaces and PC workstations for studying are available in the library.

The chemistry library contains the most important textbooks in the field of chemistry. It is a reference library. The remaining stocks are located in the University Library Basel (main library).

Chemistry books are listed in the library catalog swisscovery and can be ordered there.

Under these links you will find a compilation of textbooks that are recommended for Bachelor's and Master's programmes and that are available as e-books on the university network.

The chemistry library is accessible to students and department members during the regular building opening hours (8.00-18.00 h). The librarian can be contacted in her office in the library on Thursdays or by email.

In the library is an open access bookcase that allows for the exchange and sharing of textbooks and reference books that are no longer needed.

The Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries, of which the University of Basel is a member, has a number of Read & Publish agreements that enable free or lower-cost open access publishing.

All these publication discounts are listed here.

With some publishers, the number of articles supported is limited, and in most cases the article quotas also apply throughout Switzerland. Once the article quota has been exhausted, the financing of the APCs (Article Processing Charge) must be organised independently, or green Open Access (second publication on edoc) must be chosen, waiving the publisher's Open Access option.

Further information on Open Access can be found here.

In the Survival Kit you can find the most important information about the library and literature and links to the respective websites. Printed copies are available in the Chemistry Library.
